Baby is on the way

Granny Square Baby Blanket 101

Very exciting news!

A baby is almost here, (not mine) but a close friends. I spent a Saturday evening teaching soon to be mum how to crochet a granny square she is going to turn it into a blanket. Here was the beginning....

I was so happy to be a part of this special time.. Can't wait to meet her!

Retro Double Sided Bunting

Last week we had the baby shower,  I decided make retro double sided bunting.

Everyone needs more bunting in their lives. To make your own, you will need...

MaterialsFabric depends on the size of your triangle I used 4 16cm strips
2 metres of bias binding

Preparing 1. Cut out a triangle template from cardboard - the triangles can be any size you choose, I did 16cm for the base and 16.5cm for the sides.
2. Cut out 4 triangles from each of the four fabrics

Sewing
3. With right sides together of Fabric A and Fabric B, sew the sides of the triangle, leaving the base (16cm) unstitched. Then repeat the same with Fabric C & D
4. Turn triangles inside out, so you are on the right side and iron
5. On the right side of the fabric, sew the same sides (this will give the flags more stability), again leaving the base open.
6. Measure out the flags placing 5 cm between each flag along the bias binding. Alternating Flag with Fabric A & B and Flag with Fabric C & D.
7.  Fold the bias binding in half and sew the binding together using a zigzag stitch this keeps the flags in place - I used colourful thread so it stands out and also went over the bias with a star stitch that I have on my sewing machine.

Voila your very own double sided retro bunting!

Until next time, first post is over an out
